We will be celebrating World Book Day on the 1st March 2018 and, as promised, here are some details of how we will be spending the day.
Our theme is ‘The Big Bedtime Story’ and we cannot wait to see the children in their pyjamas and hear about their favourite stories on the day.
Children will be taking part in activities such as ‘Speed date a book’, ‘Wrap a book in words’ and DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time. The ‘World Book Day’ website has so many wonderful resources that we will also be using – definitely worth a look for book trailers, online stories and book related activities.
Your child will also bring home a voucher that entitles them to £1 off the price of a chosen book, or can be exchanged for a specially published book to celebrate the day. Please read the details on the voucher for more information.
Here is a chance to win your class a wonderful book related prize! All you need to do is take a photograph of yourself reading in the most unusual place you can think of (very similar to our in-school competition last year) and bring it into school, with your name and class details on the back, on World Book Day.
The photographs will be shared within your class and a secret vote will take place to find the most unusual. One entry per class will make it into the Lower School and Upper School competitions and the winners announced in assembly the following day.
Thank you so much for your support in making this an exciting and memorable day for the children.
