Exciting adventures for Year 5! Below are details for three trips we will be taking the children on this half-term.
Sorry for the short notice for the 6th March, this letter was due to go out last Wednesday but I’m afraid there was ‘snow’ way that could have happened in the circumstances!
Science Show at Chase High
On Tuesday 6th March 2018 we will be taking the whole year group to Chase High to watch a Science Show. We will be walking, so please make sure your children have weather appropriate clothing. We will also be having lunch there so would kindly ask for you to provide a packed lunch. This trip is within normal school hours, and we will be back in good time for the end of the day.
To support our Religious Education teaching we will be taking the children to St. Saviours Church to discover more about Holy Week, the celebrations involved and the meaning behind them on Wednesday 21st March 2018. We will be walking to the Church so, again, please ensure that your child has weather appropriate clothing for the journey. This trip will take place in the morning and we will be back in time for lunch.
Braintree District Museum
To immerse ourselves into a Victorian way of life, we will be visiting Braintree District Museum where the children will be able to step back in time into a Victorian classroom and take part in activities involving many historical artefacts.
On the day of the trip we would really appreciated it your child could dress as a Victorian for the day. Please do not go to the expense of buying a costume, we will be discussing ideas in our classes so a DIY job would be fantastic!
5JW and 5CF will be visiting on Monday 19th March 2018.
5DS and 5OS will be visiting on Thursday 29th March 2018.
In order to cover the costs of travel and access to the museum, we are asking for a contribution of £12.50 towards the cost of the trip. Please make payment using our on-line system, SIMs Agora. If you have not registered for the on line payment system, please pop into the office and a member of staff will provide you with a reference number and instructions to get you signed up.
When organising school activities which will enrich the curriculum experience of the children, the school invites parents to contribute towards the cost. All contributions are voluntary, and unfortunately if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will have to cancel this visit. If you are unable to contribute financially please inform your child’s teacher by letter. Please complete the slip below and return to your child’s teacher by Wednesday 14th March 2018.
The children will need to bring a packed lunch and water bottle. If your child is entitled to free school meals and would like a packed lunch provided by the school, please indicate on the slip below. Children will be able to bring a small amount of money, if they wish, to buy small gifts from the Museum Gift Shop. A maximum of £5 please, which the children will be responsible for.
We will be leaving at 9.00am and will return in time for the end of the school day.
