Newsletter – 29th March 2018

29th March 2018

We’ve had a great Spring Term with plenty of success to celebrate both inside and outside the classroom. Most recently, our creative and talented artists entered this year’s South East Essex Design Competition with a range of pieces from Years 3-6 and from our Pottery, Art and Sewing Clubs.

The exhibition was held at Westwood Academy with the judges interviewing the children about their artistic learning journey.  The awards ceremony took place at The Deanes School on Monday and we are thrilled to announce that every group that entered won an award! Years 3, 4 and the Pottery Club won bronze certificates for their Egyptian cartouches, Batik designs, class collage of the journey of a river and wave coil pots.  Years 5 & 6 also won gold awards for the Art Club and Sewing Club with their ‘beside the sea’ themed appliqué wall mural, Diwali lamps and stunning Saxon jewellery designs. Fantastic effort from all of our children – we’re very proud!

Our Drama Club performed their version of the classic Annie last night and what a brilliant job they did! A tremendous level of performance from all involved clearly showing all the hard work they have put in during rehearsals with Mr Fleury to underpin their talent. Well done all!

Continuing with the creative theme, a group of children in Year 5 – the 3D Printing Pioneers- have designed, personalised and printed creations using our new 3D printers. These children will be the leaders in their classes when every child will experience 3D printing and computer aided design when we roll it out with the rest of the school. An exciting step into the future and I can’t wait to see what they produce next!

Sports news

A fantastic team of Year 6 boys represented us brilliantly against Darlinghurst last Friday. For many it was their first time representing school at football and they came away with a well-deserved 5-0 victory. Great work team!

Year 5&6 boys also completed their league campaign with a 2-2 draw against Temple Sutton Primary last night after battling back from being two nil down at half time. It was the first game that they haven’t won this season but still enough to see them crowned league champions and it also gives them the opportunity to play at Roots Hall on the 18th May 2018 in the cup final against the winners of league 2.  Another great year and our fourth year on the trot winning the league! Brilliant work team, and thanks to Mr

Robinson and Mr Moltino for giving up so much of their time to organise and take the boys to all these fixtures.

Our Year 5&6 girls are in action this evening with a possibility of also winning their league. Good luck girls!

Attendance matters

The number of lates this week was 31. Our overall attendance so far is 96.2%.
