27th April 2018
A week with lots of good news stories but also a goodbye. Mrs Hyam will be leaving us at the end of the year to take on a new challenge and she will be very much missed. As anyone who has worked with her or had the pleasure of being in her class will tell you, she has been an absolute star during her time at Chalkwell Hall and I am sure you will join us in wishing her all the best for her new venture.
We have been busy interviewing ahead of the new academic year and have made 2 top quality appointments to add to our already fantastic staff team so that we are brilliantly prepared to meet our children’s needs moving forward.
Our Year 5&6 netballers played against Thorpe Greenways last night after school and were superb. The girls have come on enormously since they started training together and the way they moved the ball around with pace and precision is testament to the hard work they have put in this year. Great team spirit, quality play and, importantly, always playing with a smile on their faces resulted in two comprehensive wins of 4-1 and 8-1. Well done girls, it was a pleasure to watch!
Our cross country runners did brilliantly last Friday in the finals, after having qualified from races earlier in the season, with each race consisting of 130 of the best runners in the area. In really hot conditions our individual runners performed superbly just to finish the course and to finish in the top half of their races was fantastic. Great effort all round!
On Friday 18th May 2018 we will be welcoming back Go Bonkers for an Inflatable Fun Day! There will be 11 inflatables for the children to enjoy at one of 2 sessions; 3.30-5.30pm or 6-8pm. Wristbands are £8 per school aged child and £5 per pre-schooler and must be bought in advance and worn at the event. Due to high demand, wristbands will be sold on a first come, first served basis, so to avoid disappointment please return your slips and payment ASAP. Letters have now gone home detailing the event in full.
You will have also received letters home asking for your support to have a Coulson James board outside your home that will advertise our Summer Fete on Saturday 30th June 2018, 12-3pm. For every board that goes up, Coulson James have kindly offered to make a donation to the PTA! Boards will be put up approximately 2 weeks before the fete and taken down a week after. If you are happy to have a board, please email email@example.com with your name, address and post code.
We are kindly asking for volunteers for both Go Bonkers and the Summer Fete, so if you are able to help in any way or would like more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you for your support!
The number of lates this week was 35. Our overall attendance so far is 96.2%.
