Next half term, Year 4’s topic will be ‘What makes you Incredible?’ As part of the topic, we will be looking at ‘superheroes’ in everyday life as well as links to ‘The Incredibles’ movies. They will also look at themselves and recognising what makes everyone unique and special. We are also very excited to use the school’s new 3D printers as part of our model-making work, where the children will design their own superhero-themed product electronically and print them out to keep forever.
As model making will be a central part of our topic, we will be visiting Madame Tussauds in London in order to enhance the children’s learning experience. During the trip, the children will get to come face-to-face with models of some of the most incredible people in the world, and learn about the model-making process there. They will also have a 4D Marvel Superhero film experience.
Classes 4AH and 4TF will go on Friday 22nd June 2018, with 4SB and 4JT going on Monday 25th June 2018. We will be travelling by train to London, then via the Underground to get to the museum. On the day of the visit, children should arrive at school by 8.30am, as we need to leave school by 8.45am. We aim to return to school by 4.15pm.
The cost of travel and entrance to Madame Tussauds will be £16 per child. If your child has a Merlin Annual Pass, then they will need to bring this with them on the day and the cost of the trip will be reduced to £6.00 to cover transport costs. We need parental assistance with these trips, so please indicate on the reply slip if you are able to assist.
On the day, your child should wear their normal school uniform. They will require a packed lunch and a refillable water bottle. If your child is entitled to a free school meal and requires a packed lunch, please indicate on the reply slip.
When organising school activities that will enrich the curriculum experience of the children, the school invites parents to contribute towards the cost. All contributions are voluntary, however if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will have to cancel this visit.
Payment for this trip should be made via the SIMs Agora on-line payment system. If you have not signed up yet, please see a member of the office staff who will provide you with a reference number. Please return the permission slip to your child’s class teacher. If you are unable to contribute financially, please inform your child’s teacher by letter as soon as possible. Please complete the reply slip and return to your child’s teacher no later than Friday 8th June 2018. Please see link to the letter below:
