Newsletter – 6th July 2018

What better weather could we ask for on a week where we had the summer fete, sports day and the finals of the borough Super Sports, where the very best athletes from all across the borough challenge themselves against the toughest competition.

Sports day was lovely with everyone having the chance to race in a great friendly environment (even mums, dads and toddlers!) and then the Super Sports provided a more serious occasion for the children to test themselves. I make no apologies for having loads of photos in this week because we had so many teams and individuals picking up trophies! On the track, we had winners in all five of our relay team entries and then gold, silver or bronze in three individual events too. In the field events we also had two golds and two bronze medals. What a talented bunch!

The fete was a roaring success and a lovely afternoon for our community to come together. My thanks to all who volunteered on the day, the PTA for organising and to everyone who came along and enjoyed themselves!

Our Year 5s spent Monday morning at King John and a whole day at the Chase on Wednesday, dipping their toes into the world of secondary school and seeing all the exciting things that they have to look forward to. Most of our Year 6s will have spent time at the new schools today and all our remaining children will have met their new class teacher for September today. It is open afternoon next week so please pop in for the last one of the year.

Our Year 3 children took a trip to St Saviour’s Church this week as part of their RE studies. They enjoyed an informative and enjoyable visit where they found out all about what takes place in the church and discovered interesting facts – some pupils were even invited to act in role as members of a congregation.

A reminder from the office staff to all parents/carers, especially those in Year 6 – please pay any outstanding debt for dinners or breakfast/after school clubs and remember to pick up medication at the end of term.

And finally from me, just a reminder that the deadline for registration to take the CSSE 11+ selection tests is 20th July 2018 at 4.30pm. Please see their website for details
