Newsletter – 18th January 2019

18th January 2019

It’s been a very sporty week here in school. At the weekend, the Year 5&6 boys competed in the first round of the Turner Cup at Bournes Green Juniors and won their group to progress to the finals in February.

On Monday our Boccia team, who had already won the Borough tournament, competed in the Essex finals and came a fantastic 6th overall in the whole county! An added excitement at the event was that Paralympic Champion David Smith was in attendance to award medals.

Our Year 4 girls competed in very chilly conditions at the annual football tournament at the Len Forge Centre. We qualified from our group and then went undefeated in the super 10s, to gain a place in the semi-final by winning 1-0 with a golden goal from Alice Bird. We ended up fourth after losing two very close games in the semi-final and 3rd/4th place play-off.

Our Year 5&6 girls played a league match against Prince Avenue School yesterday and ended up with a handsome 16-2 victory displaying some fantastic movement and brilliant shooting to score so many goals!

I have just left our Year 5&6 basketball team competing in Colchester at the Essex finals, also having won the borough tournament. They are currently top of their group and through to the latter stages so fingers crossed!

It has been an absolute pleasure watching so many of our children competing, working together as a team and representing us so well in the community. I couldn’t be prouder – well done all!

School uniform

We have another school uniform provider for parents to use at affordable prices. Please go to and have a look.

We have had another complaint from a local resident with regards to nuisance parking.  The car park at the top of Nelson Road (just opposite the school) is not a public car park.  This is a private residents’ car park and must not be used by parents to drop off and pick up children.  If you drive to school can we please ask that you leave a few minutes earlier to park a bit further away if necessary or walk and please consider our neighbours when you park your car.
