Newsletter – 15th February 2019

And so we end another successful half term at Chalkwell Hall. A half term of already many highs ended with a few more of the sporting variety for our football and netball teams. Our girls played football against Prince Avenue Primary on Friday evening and did brilliantly well to win 3-0 in what was a very hard fought game.

Our boys played in the finals of the Turner Trophy at Bournes Green Juniors on Saturday and were excellent throughout. A fantastic team spirit, and some really good football, saw them all the way through to the final without conceding a goal. Only in the final match itself, in extra time, did they concede a goal to leave the score at 1-1 after extra time and both schools took the decision to share the trophy rather than see it decided on penalties meaning we had double the number of winners! We have been through many penalty shootouts over the last few years and they are no fun for anyone so we are delighted to share the trophy with Fairways this year but we did win the rock, paper, scissors contest to see who took it back to school first!

We returned to Bournes Green with our girls on Monday for two netball matches and the results were equally impressive. They racked up wins of 15-5 and 10-0 with fantastic performances by all involved! It’s always a pleasure watching our young athletes perform and even more so when they do it with the right attitude; the winning is a bonus – watching them exemplify our core values while they do it makes us very proud!

A couple of quick reminders before everyone switches off for half term. Please get your governor election votes in ASAP, the book fair is in school the week we come back and please remember that the children are not in school until Tuesday 26th February – not the Monday!
