5th April 2019
Another busy week ends another successful term here at Chalkwell Hall.
I had the pleasure of attending the latest Children’s University graduation last night to celebrate the achievements of our pupils who engage so wholeheartedly with extra-curricular activities. They looked splendid in their gowns and mortar boards and spoke clearly and confidently in the auditorium. They should be very proud of themselves!
This week we have had Southend United, along with Sammy the Shrimp, in school giving 8 children the chance to compete in a “You Know The Drill” type challenge. Congratulations to Freddie who goes on to the final next week for a chance to win a holiday to Barcelona – good luck!
Our thanks to Rev Tom Loh from St Michael’s and All Angels Church, Westcliff-on-Sea who visited Year 3 this week to retell the story of Easter and explain its importance to the Christian faith.
We have been fortunate enough to win many trophies this term but the real measure of extra-curricular success for us as a school is the sheer number of children who have had the opportunity to represent Chalkwell Hall in some way shape or form. This may take the form of sports, arts, music, dance or drama but they all provide a profound and lasting memory for our children that boosts self-esteem and increases confidence – a proven recipe for success and one we will keep on trying to develop. I’m delighted to say we have had well over half the children representing school this year so far with many more opportunities to come!
For the next two weeks, while the school is closed, we will not be selling Adventure Island wristbands online but instead they can be purchased during the Easter break from Coulson James on the Leigh Road at the same discounted prices.
However, sales of both Go Bonkers wristbands and theatre tickets will continue online throughout the school holiday.
To allow time for the distribution of wristbands in advance of the event, we hope to close the sale of Go Bonkers wristbands by the end of April and so for those who would like to attend we would ask that you purchase your wristbands as soon as possible by registering onto the PTA Events website using the link below:
Today is the last day we are offering tickets to the performances of Grease and Cirque Beserk at the Cliffs Pavilion and so if you would like tickets for either of these shows please email firstname.lastname@example.org by the end of the day.
However, we announced earlier this week our latest offer of tickets to the new production of “BIG the Musical”. Based on the smash-hit movie starring Tom Hanks, BIG makes its West End premier at the Dominion Theatre from September 2019. We have reserved great seats at fantastically discounted prices for the matinee performance on Thursday 31st October 2019 (half term) but please note our reservation for these tickets will need to close by 30th April 2019.
Tickets for BIG, Riverdance or Les Misérables can all be purchased on the Events and ticket sales website using the link above. By selecting “Shop” then “Uniform and Merchandise” from the bar across the top of the site, you will be taken to the ticket sales page where you will find full details.
