Welcome back one and all! It was lovely to see how keen and happy the children were to come charging through the gates yesterday morning – their enthusiasm is fantastic. We say a warm welcome to all our new Year 3 families and also to some new staff. Mr Baldwin has joined us in the Year 4 team and we also have Miss Palmer, Miss Hume-Gilmore, Mrs Porter and Miss Hyam joining us as Learning Support Assistants. Mr Birkinshaw isn’t new but he does officially start his new role as Assistant Headteacher (Lead for Year 3, maths and SEN) this term. We also have lovely news to celebrate and say congratulations to Mr Smale, who got married over the summer break, and to Miss Winders who is expecting a baby!
We have had a lot done over the summer, new windows around the whole building, a new classroom built for 5JW and some new play equipment for the children in the playground, thanks to the fundraising efforts of our hard-working PTA supported by our community.
We are looking forward to another busy and successful year – the calendar is already filling up with events, trips and, of course, dressing up days! We are starting with Roald Dahl day next week and Mrs Walkom has sent out a letter explaining how children can choose to get involved. You don’t need to go out and buy any fancy dress outfits at short notice, there are other options for getting involved if your dressing up box isn’t already overflowing:
- Dress up as your favourite Roald Dahl character (a firm favourite with the staff – they love to dress up!)
- Make an object from a Roald Dahl story to share with your class – could this clue help your friends and teachers guess which story you are thinking about?
- Re-design your favourite Roald Dahl story book cover. Will you choose to draw in the style of Quentin Blake or create your own style?
A reminder from our office team. Please could all new parents sign up with SIMS PAY as it makes paying for school dinners (£2.30) and things like trips much easier. If you need any help in doing this please contact the office team.
