Newsletter – 27th September 2019

It has been a fairly quiet week at school with Year 6 either out on Activity Week or at Kingswood and with Year 3 visiting Thorndon Country Park on Monday.

Year 3 had a great time at Thorndon Country Park, where they enjoyed a range of dinosaur-themed activities. They got to build their own clay dinosaur models, measured out dinosaur footprints and calculated how many of their own footsteps it took between one dinosaur footstep.

We are expecting a very tired group of Year 6 children (and staff) home this afternoon and will post some pictures in next week’s newsletter.

Mr Robinson took the boys and girls Table Tennis teams to a tournament at Thorpe Hall on Wednesday. The teams played well and won several matches, but on this occasion could not quite make it through to the semi finals.

Just a reminder that we are collecting ‘Aldi’s Kit for Schools’ stickers. To obtain stickers, you need to spend £30 or more in any Aldi store on each visit; they are issued at the checkout.  If you do bring stickers in and they come through the office, please indicate if they are for Upper or Lower school.

We welcome volunteers in school, particularly those who can give a bit of time to help listen to children read. If you can give a bit of regular time, please get in touch with the office team.

We are trying to get everyone to sign up to SIMS Pay as it will dramatically improve safety and security and will reduce time spent on payment administration. If your invitation code has expired, please come into the school office and request a new code.

Children will shortly be bringing home Christmas card designs in time for you to purchase cards to send out to family and friends, you will be able to make payment for these cards on the SIMS Pay system, so make sure you have registered if you would like to pay on-line.  Christmas cards will be available to purchase under the ‘On-line Shop’ tab. Your support in adopting SIMS Pay would be greatly appreciated.

If your child isn’t attending an after school club on a particular night, please let the office staff know so that they do not spend time looking for your child.  Children who do not turn up for a club need to be located.

A reminder to pay dinner money in advance, preferably through SIMS Pay please.
