Newsletter – 17th January 2020

Business as usual in school this week with plenty going on. All our clubs are up and running with more children than ever taking part in something extra-curricular before, during or after school. We have over 700 club spaces filled up with around 80% of our children getting involved which is great. We have been talking to the children about what they would like to do in clubs (within reason!) and we are always looking at ways of getting even more attending.

It was great to see lots of people at our 11+ meeting on Wednesday. If you couldn’t make the meeting, or would just like a recap, the slides from the presentation are on our website in the letters section.

On the sporting front, Year 3 have started their swimming lessons this week, having a great time working on their skills in the pool at Earls Hall and our indoor athletics team have been out training at Southend High School for Girls ahead of their next competition.

Our basketball team are playing at the University of East Anglia in Colchester today, representing us in the Essex finals after doing so well in the Southend competition (they had won 3 out of 3 when I had to come back to school so fingers crossed!) and our Year 5 & 6 boys are competing in the finals of the Southend 6-a-side tomorrow at Bournes Green Juniors. Good luck everybody!

Despite the cold, wet weather, it is now the Spring Term and we are excited for all our forthcoming fundraisers, with dates for your diaries to be advised ASAP. Thank you again for all your wonderful support last term, we had the most successful Autumn Term to date!

The 500 Club – Congratulations to the December draw winners – Simone Isaacs (85), Greg Oberbeck (58) and Chloe Danby (176).

The 500 Club is our school lottery, with numbers sold to parents, grandparents & carers at £1 per number and you can have as many numbers as you would like! Half of the funds raised are retained to contribute towards the upkeep of our much valued and well used school minibuses and the balance is paid in monthly cash prizes, with 3 winning numbers drawn in assembly by the children each month. If you would like to join, please email … you’ve got to be in it, to win it!
