Southend Food Bank

This half-term the Junior Governors, in conjunction with the Infant school’s Pupil Voice, have chosen for both schools to support Southend Foodbank.

We are kindly asking for donations to be brought in to school throughout the week commencing on Monday 17th June 2019. The children will be rewarded with one house-point for every item they bring in! So let’s support our community and earn those house-points!

Southend Foodbank ask that you do not donate dried pasta or tins of beans (as they have plenty), but will welcome cereals, squash, UHT milk, custard and tinned vegetables. For further ideas of what to donate please visit the Southend Foodbank website – https://southend.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/donate-food/.

We will announce the house-point totals in the newsletter the following week.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Crazy Hair/PJ Day in Aid of Mr Robinson’s Havens Hospice London Marathon place

We are holding a Crazy Hair Pyjama Day on Friday 26th April 2019, in support of Mr Robinson’s fundraising for his Havens Hospices London Marathon place.

On the day, children will be able to wear pyjamas or onesies and a crazy hairstyle if they wish. Children can do either or both, but the suggested donation will still be £1.

Your support for this event will be much appreciated, but if your child does not wish to participate that is fine too.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Big Battery Hunt

We are pleased to announce that we are launching the ‘Big Battery Hunt’.

We feel that recycling batteries is really important because when batteries start to rot away, in landfill sites, the chemicals from them may leak into the ground, which can cause soil and water pollution. When chemicals contaminate soil and water, animals, humans and the environment can be harmed.

As part of the ‘Big Battery Hunt’, every child will be bringing home a box, so that your household can collect all of your used batteries.

The ‘Big Battery Hunt’ will not only help us to help the environment, but also as a result of the school entering the competition, it will be entered into a draw with the chance of winning:

  • A 2-night class trip to the sustainability centre
  • A 3-year subscription to MyMaths worth £1,000
  • £2000 worth of school equipment vouchers
  • iPads
  • Certificates and trophies

When your box is full, bring it to the school office where you can empty it into our school’s collection point. You can keep on collecting until 10th May 2019.

Thank you so much for your support.

BOXES WILL BE COMING HOME TODAY.

Red Nose Day

We would like to celebrate Red Nose Day on Friday 15th March 2019 by holding a non-school uniform day.

On the day your child is welcome to wear Red Nose Day merchandise; however, it is not compulsory and non-school uniform is enough.

If your child wishes to participate, we would suggest a donation of £1.

Thank you so much for supporting this good cause.
