Modern Foreign Languages

Vision Statement

We believe that the learning of a foreign language provides a valuable educational, social and cultural experience for pupils. Learning another language raises awareness of our multilingual and multicultural world and our aim is for pupils to become curious about and respectful of the world around them. We seek for children to develop a love of languages and to acquire communication and literacy skills that will lay the foundation for future language learning at KS3 and beyond.

Aims

     • To introduce children to another language in a way that is challenging but enjoyable and accessible to

        all.

     • To develop children’s knowledge of how language works, exploring differences and similarities between

the foreign language (Spanish) and English.

     • To teach children to speak with good intonation and pronunciation.

     • To help children to read and write with increasing confidence.

     • To promote an appreciation of and respect for cultural differences.
